IMWITOR 960 K

IMWITOR 960 K is a self-emulsifying GMS for dermal use. It is meant to be applied topically to create a protective barrier on the surface of the skin. It is compatible with a wide range of APIs and therefore an excellent basis for stable formulations.
IMWITOR® 960 K is an ester of palmitic and stearic fatty acid with glycerol. Fatty acids and glycerol are derived from vegetable sources. It contains at least 30.0 % of monoglycerides and additionally approx. 5 % of alkaline stearate.
Due to its powerful emulsifying property IMWITOR 960 K is broadly used in several pharmaceutical topical preparations. Emulsions with IMWITOR 960 K are not sensitive to a wide range of APIs and is therefore able to form stable formulations. Typical dosage: 2-7 %.
Light yellowish, solid flakes with a nearly neutral odor. IMWITOR® 960 K does not contain additives or residues of antioxidants, stabilizers or solvents. IMWITOR® 960 K exhibits a high storage stability and no rancidity risk because it is free from unsaturated components. It shows a very good skin compatibility.
IMWITOR 960 K is soluble in chloroform, ethanol, diethyl ether, vegetable oils and MCT oils like MIGLYOL® 812 N.
